How to Evaluate, Launch, and Govern AI on Your Campus

Overview
Most institutions have tested AI solutions across sporadic pilots or one-off projects. Yet far fewer have scaled it. AI projects stay siloed, options multiply, and governance debates stall decisions. Often, these decisions are not about technology, but trust. Who controls what the AI knows? Can it be used to cheat? How is it different from ChatGPT?
In this session, Alisa Kadenic-Newman (Director of Educational and Student Success Technologies at the Community College System of New Hampshire) and Joe Stafford (LearnWise AI) will walk attendees through how institutions are moving past the most common AI evaluation roadblocks and how CCSNH launched AI support across seven colleges inside Canvas, drawing on its own institutional knowledge sources, and shaping governance alongside the rollout.
You’ll hear what made the solution acceptable to a campus with mixed views on AI, and how governance decisions developed alongside the rollout.
You’ll leave with:
- Questions to ask before you commit to an AI solution
- A practical way to pick your first use case and expand
- What to look for on security, data and academic integrity
- Real-world lessons from launching AI solutions across a multi-college campus
Who Should Attend
This session is designed for the people responsible for evaluating, launching and governing AI at their institution: CIOs, IT and academic technology leaders, and student success teams. It’s especially relevant if your institution has run AI pilots but hasn’t yet scaled them.
If you are a provost, VP, or cabinet-level leader weighing how to move AI forward while governance conversations are still taking shape, this session is relevant to you as well.
